Useful Information
dataplextech.com
The dataplextech.com web site (herein referred to as "DataPlex") is an online
community and information service sponsored by DataPlex
Technologies (herein referred to as "the company" or "DataPlex").
The following constitutes a "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure" under the Year 2000
Information and Readiness Disclosure Act of 1998, a U.S. statute enacted on October 19,
1998. This designation also applies to information delivered by DataPlex Technologies past and present via written or verbal
communications and through its website at http://www.dataplextech.com/y2k.htm.
The Year 2000 issue is the result of computer programs, microprocessors,
and embedded date reliant systems using two digit representations for the applicable year
rather than four digits. Such programs are vulnerable to potential system failure,
or could possibly generate erroneous results when applying date calculations or
comparisons on or after January 1, 2000.
DataPlex Technologies
understands the business impact of the Year 2000 issues and has developed a
remediation process (herein referred to as "the process") for computer programs
written in the Clipper programming language(s). Dataplex defines "Year 2000
Ready" as sthe ability of a software program to accurately process date data from,
into, and beyond the years 1999 and 2001, including leap year calculations. Programs
meeting DataPlex's Year 2000 Compliance Statement will:
- Handle date data before, during and after January 1, 2000, including but
not limited to, where applicable, accepting date input, providing date output and
performing calculations on dates or portions of dates.
- Function without interruption before, during and after January 1, 2000,
without any change in operations associated with the advent of the twenty-first century.
- Calculate dates consistent with a 4-digit year format throughout its
operational range.
- Respond, where applicable, to two digit year date input in a way that
resolves any ambiguity as to century in a disclosed, defined and predetermined manner.
- Store and provide output of date data in ways that are unambiguous as to
century.
- Correctly execute leap year calculations.
- Will NOT us special values for dates within its operational range
for data. The product or business application will treat "dates and durations"
intended to mean "no date" or "never" explicitly; specific attention
is directed to 9/9/99.
- Will function into the 21st century, through the end of year 2035.
Note that the year 2035 is a limitation of the workstation and network operating
systems and is NOT a limitation of any specific DataPlex application.
- Correctly calculate the day of the week for all dates from 1980 to 2035.
- Calculate the difference between 01/01/1980 and 01/01/2035 as 20,089
days.
- The product or business application must sort dates in proper
chronological order for any collection of dates from 1980 trhough 2035.
