EPIC is a public interest research center in Washington, D.C. It was
established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging civil liberties issues and to
protect privacy, the First Amendment, and constitutional values. EPIC is a project of the Fund for Constitutional Government. EPIC works in
association with Privacy International, an
international human rights group based in London, UK and is also a member of the Global Internet Liberty Campaign, the Internet Free Expression Alliance and the Internet Privacy Coalition.

available to consumers. The Consumer.Net Opt-Out page provides information on being
removed from telemarketing/junk mail lists, the release of your home address by state
motor vehicles, and provides information on credit bureaus and database/list companies.

You have probably seen an increase in the amount of "junk mail" which shows
up in your email box, or on your favorite newsgroup. The activities of a small number of
people are becoming a bigger problem for the Internet. We have been actively engaged in
fighting spam for years. Since we presented this site to the public in 1996, we have been
pleased to be referenced as one of the best anti-spam sites on the net. Help fight spam to
keep the Internet useful for everyone.
The
Privacy Rights Clearinghouse offers practical information for consumers on ways to
safeguard privacy. The PRC's web site contains 22 fact sheets on such subjects as identity
theft, junk mail, telemarketing, credit reports, workplace privacy, medical records, and
Internet privacy. It also includes speeches and legislative testimony on privacy policy
topics. The PRC is a nonprofit consumer information and advocacy progrm based in San Diego
California. It was established in 1992.
